Connecting to the brick

Dec 31, 2013 at 1:40 AM
I just found out about this api, and I have a feeling it will be great! However, right now, I am receiving the following exception when I run my code:

Unable to connect to LEGO EV3 brick...is the manifest set properly?

My current code (or the part using the api) is just the following 4 lines:

Dim ev3 As New Brick(New UsbCommunication())
Await ev3.ConnectAsync()
Await ev3.DirectCommand.TurnMotorAtPowerForTimeAsync(OutputPort.A, 100, 5000, True)
ev3.Disconnect()

I am assuming the message is referring to the Package.appxmanifest file. I tried giving Capabilities for Proximity, but it did not make any difference. Is there something else I need to change or include to make a UsbCommunication (or Bluetooth or WiFi, once I start including them) connection?

I'm assuming you're using WinRT...please see the permissions section in the docs:

Thank you for the quick reply, I don't know how I missed that section. You have now helped me take the most important step in my entire EV3 development career: I can connect with the brick! Thanks!
